Hello! It is very nice to meet you. I am Ruth Stevens from The Ruthie Edit. I live in Denver, Colorado with my husband, Andy, and our 3 fur babies – a black cat named Nori, a Siberian husky, Apollo and a mutt mix – Dingo.
I am a public health nurse by day, but I started this blog to write about the things I’m care about. On The Ruthie Edit, I will be sharing many things, my personal experiences, tips/organization, share my favorite recipes, DIY projects, home decor and fashion.
I am originally from South Western Ontario, Canada. I grew up in a small city with my parents and older brother. We initially were living in the inner city and moved to a cul-de-sac suburb. I am a first generation Cambodian immigrant. I spent a good chunk of my life learning how to make some amazing dishes and learning more about the Cambodian culture.
I ended up in Boston, MA USA when I decided to do a career change from teaching to nursing. I ended up spending almost 10 years in Boston. There, I was able to enjoy New England’s natural beauty. My love for the outdoors and hiking flourished there. I also starting skiing again (not well), and doing more winter sports.
I worked as a RN at some Boston Hospitals. I was in a cardiac step down unit for a good chunk of my time. I adopted my husky, Apollo, and felt very fulfilled in my career and life.
However, with the pandemic and Covid –> I decided to take advantage of the traveling rates and travelled in the state to make some money. I met my now husband around that same time. He was a good quarantine buddy. We connected with our love of dogs and the outdoors. We both enjoy hiking, biking and being outdoors. He likes camping more than I do, but we do share a love for trying new foods and cooking.
We end up moved in with each other shortly after dating. We did some home projects to improve our place. We ended up selling two properties with most improvements done by ourselves!
Unfortunately, Andy’s job has a mobility waiver, so we ended up moving to Colorado. (There are worse places be forced to moved to haha) We moved to Colorado in the fall of 2023.
So far, we have been enjoying the climate and outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. We also purchased a builder-grade suburban home that we plan on making our own. I am still a beginner with DIY but please join me as a continue to learn.
I also enjoy creating and designing items for decor and events. I creating a good amount of items for my wedding and my everyday organization. Please visit my shop for some of that content.
